Breast Lift Surgery
Free ConsultationMastopexy, commonly known as breast lift surgery, is a cosmetic procedure that elevates and reshapes sagging breasts to restore a more youthful, firmer contour. Over time, factors such as gravity, pregnancy, breastfeeding and significant weight changes can cause breasts to lose their shape and firmness. A breast lift corrects this by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reposition the breasts higher on the chest wall.

- *Am I a Good Candidate?
Ideal candidates are women in good overall health who have breasts that sag, have lost volume and firmness, or have nipples and areolas that point downward. Candidates should have realistic expectations and be non-smokers, or willing to quit before and after surgery. Breast lift surgery is not recommended during pregnancy or whilst planning future pregnancies, as this can affect results.
- *The Procedure
Breast lift surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and typically takes 2–4 hours. The surgeon removes excess skin and reshapes the breast tissue, then repositions the nipple and areola to a more youthful height. Several incision techniques are available — including peri-areolar, lollipop and anchor incisions — and the most appropriate technique will be selected based on the degree of sagging and your surgeon's recommendation.
- *Breast Lift vs. Breast Augmentation
A breast lift raises and reshapes the breasts without significantly changing their size. Breast augmentation uses implants to increase volume. These procedures can also be combined — this is known as an augmentation mastopexy — for patients who wish to both lift and add fullness.
- *Recovery and Aftercare
Following surgery, a supportive surgical bra is worn for several weeks to support the healing breasts. Swelling and bruising are normal and typically resolve within 2–3 weeks. Most patients return to light activities within 1–2 weeks, with a full return to exercise after approximately 6 weeks. Final results become visible once swelling has fully subsided.
- *Long-Term Results
Results are long-lasting, particularly when a healthy and stable weight is maintained. While gravity and ageing continue to act on breast tissue over time, many patients enjoy their rejuvenated contour for many years following surgery.
